CBN: Naira to Appreciate Further Against Dollar

The Nigerian Naira is set to appreciate further against the Dollar this week as the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) won't soften its attack on the black market. 

The apex bank has been injecting forex into the market to meet demands of genuine customers. This has crashed the price of dollars.

CBN spokesman, Isaac Okorafor, in a statement said the CBN was committed to ensuring that authorized dealers got sufficient supply to meet the demands of authentic customers.

ASUU: Federal, State Universities Shut Down Imminent

The Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU has warned of the imminent closure of state and federal varsities over the non payment of workers' salaries.

In a press conference during the weekend, the Port Harcourt Zone Coordinator of ASUU, Prof. Beke Sese, said lecturers would no longer continue to endure the situations against the backdrop of current economic hardship in Nigeria.

El Rufai Explosive Memo: President Buhari in Shock - The Sun

Kaduna state governor, Nasir El Rufai last year sent an explosive memo to President Muhammadu Buhari over the non-fulfilment of his campaign promises and other issues. 

The memo was recently leaked and has gained widespread attention in Nigeria and beyond. 

The Presidency is yet to respond to the matter, and according to The Sun, all efforts to make Presidential Spokesman Femi Adesina issue a few words on it have proved futile. 

Ile-Ife: Bloody Yoruba Hausa Clash has Nothing to do With Ethnicity - Presidency

The federal government has stated that the recent clash between Yorubas and Hausas in Ile-Ife which led to the loss of lives and properties has nothing to do with ethnicity. 

Nigeria Minister of Interior, Abdulrahman Dambazau, said this after visiting the site of the incident during the weekend. 

“We went straight to communities where this crisis occurred and we saw the extent of damage and we met the leaderships of the communities and discussed with them.

“It is very clear that this issue is not about crisis between Hausa community and Yoruba community in Ile-Ife.

Nigeria: Authorities Speak on NAFDAC Main Office Fire Incident

Authorities have issued a statement over a fire incident at the National Agency for Food, Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) office on Saturday in Oshodi, Lagos state.

According to the Director of Lagos State Fire Services, Rasaq Fadipe, no life was lost and no one was injured in the inferno. 

He said that five water trucks were deployed to the scene immediately his men were alerted to put out the fire.

Saraki - Senate Didn't Reject Magu Because of DSS Report

Senate President Bukola Saraki is claiming that Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC was not disqualified because of the DSS report.  

Saraki who is currently in Morocco for an African summit on climate change and food security told TVC that Magu’s rejection was for an entirely different reason.

Saraki said, “You are jumping into conclusion that he (Magu) was rejected because of the accusation. I don’t think there was anywhere we said he was rejected based on accusations.
