Nico Rosberg is new Formula 1 champion


Nico Rosberg has beaten his teammate, Lewis Hamilton to this year's Formula 1 title following the season's final race in the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.
The German only needed to finish third to clinch the title after building up a 12 point lead going into this race.  He went one better and finished second behind his Mercedes teammate Hamilton whose first place win counted for nothing.

It is Rosberg's first Formula 1 win and in doing so, he follows in the footsteps of his father, Keke who ruled the racing world in 1982.
Wine flowed freely as the German was joined in his celebrations by his father, mother, Sina and wife, Vivian Sibold. Speaking on the podium after his win he said:

FG plans to import fuel from Niger republic

NNPC Group Managing Director, Maikanti Baru, over the weekend disclosed ongoing plans by the Federal Government to import fuel from Niger Republic to Nigeria. Baru who disclosed this during a town hall meeting with the management and staff of KRPC in Kaduna, said President Buhari has ordered the construction of about 1, 000 kilometer crude oil pipelines from Niger Republic to Kaduna Refinery.

The Guards Brigade of the Nigerian Army has said that the lady identified as Juliana Gumel who was arrested in Abuja on Friday operated an unregistered clinic at the Dutse area of Abuja.

A statement signed on behalf of the Guards Brigade by Major Abdulahi Abba stated that the 42-year old woman had been operating the illegal facility identified as El-Sone Clinic and Maternity located at Buki Village, Dutse, off the Bwari Expressway, Abuja since 2014.
Abba said that the fake major lived in a makeshift apartment as a doctor in the area.

He said that troops recovered a pair of Nigerian Army Woodland Camouflage with a Nigerian Army rank of major, a pair of combat boots, a jungle hat, a fake, outdated Nigerian Army identity card and a fake current Nigerian Army identity card.

Kashamu Blames Mimiko For PDP’s Failure In Ondo, Drags In Fayose


PDP has lost power in Ondo State and the blame game has started. According to Senator Buruji Kashamu, PDP wouldn’t have lost if Governor Mimiko had listened to them. Part of the statement released by the Senator reads;

“We told Governor Mimiko that after eight years in office,  the good people of Ondo State would resist the injustice of producing a successor from the same senatorial district where he hails from.

“It is not that Jegede is not a good material. He is urbane, intelligent and smart. He would have probably won had he come from any other senatorial zone than Mimiko’s. Continue...

Heartbreaking! Apprentice With No Fixed Address Or Photo Abscond With Employer’s Children


An apprentice, identified only as Grace, has allegedly absconded with the two children of her employer, Mrs. Suliyat Azeez, in the Okokomaiko area of Lagos State.
The victims were identified as Farouk, 4; and six-year-old Kafayat.

It was learnt that Grace fled with the children on Friday, less than 24 hours after she resumed apprenticeship at their mother’s workshop on Ora Street, PPL bus stop, Okokomaiko.
It was learnt that the children had returned from school and gone to their mother’s shop.
Grace was said to have claimed she was going out to buy food and asked the children to accompany her.

Pictured! Accountant Fakes Own Kidnap, Steals Company’s $50,000


An accountant with a lubricant producing firm in Ikoyi, Lagos State, Femi Akinola, has been arrested by the police for allegedly stealing the company’s $50,000.

Punch Metro learnt that the company – Eterna Plc – had sent 30-year-old Akinola to withdraw the sum from the United Bank for Africa in the Marina area on Thursday, November 17.

On getting back to the office, he reportedly told his boss that he was kidnapped on the way from the bank, saying  his abductors dispossessed him of the money and his phones. A Punch correspondent gathered that Akinola was subsequently arrested by the police.

Buhari Congratulates Rotimi Akeredolu


President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday congratulated the Ondo State Governor-elect, Chief Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (SAN), describing his victory at the Saturday governorship election in the state as “a well-deserved victory.”

In a statement by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Mr. Femi Adesina, the President also congratulated the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress, Chief John Odigie-Oyegun; the Chairman of the Campaign Committee, Governor Simon Lalong of Plateau State, and all party faithful who he said put in their best and braved the odds to ensure a successful outing for the party’s candidate.
