Table tennis player slumps and dies in Kwara state


45-year-old Timothy Abiara died after he slumped while playing table tennis in Kwara yesterday. The deceased had been playing against another at the table tennis hall of the State Stadium Complex in Ilorin when the unfortunate incident occurred suddenly.

Though from Ogbomosho in Oyo State, NAN reports that Abiara had represented Kwara state at both the 2011 and 2012 editions of the Nationa; Sports Festival in Port Harcourt and Lagos respectively.

Senators Give 5 Conditions to End Fight With Buhari

The Nigerian Senate leadership have 5 conditions to end the rift with the Presidency, according to a Daily Trust report.

President Buhari yesterday set up a committee to end the rift also. The committee is headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo.

Nigerian Lawmaker, Nse Ekpenyong Lands In Court Over Certificate ‘Forgery’

Nigerian lawmaker, representing Oron Federal Constituency, Akwa Ibom, Mr. Nse Ekpenyong, was on Thursday arraigned at the Federal High Court, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, for alleged forgery of a polytechnic diploma.

According to Premium Times, the Economic and Financial Crime Commission, EFCC arraigned the federal lawmaker on nine count charges, accused him of forging a national diploma certificate of the Abia State Polytechnic, Aba, Abia State. 

IMF Advises CBN to Drop FX Market Restrictions

The International Monetary Fund, IMF, on Thursday advised the Nigerian government on ways to ease its economy out of recession.

The IMF urged Nigeria to lift its remaining foreign exchange restrictions and scrap its system of multiple exchange rates.

This would boost investor confidence and help the economy on its way to recovery, IMF said according to Reuters.

Buhari Approves $500m Eurobond

President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal executive council has approved the $500 million Eurobond from the international capital market to fund the 2016 budget.‎

Kemi Adeosun, minister of finance, made this known on Wednesday, saying the next steps about the issuance will be released later in the day.

Last week, the senate approved the request of Buhari to raise additional $500 million Eurobond to fund the 2016 budget.
