Photos: INTERPOL seizes 55 tonnes of drugs across West Africa and Latin America, 357 suspects arrested

An international operation across Latin America and West Africa by Interpol between 6 and 15 March,2017, has netted 55 tonnes of drugs, a seizure which underlines the ‘massive scale' of activities of transnational organized crime groups, INTERPOL Secretary General Jürgen Stock said.

Operation Lionfish III involved 5,000 law enforcement officials in 13 countries, with 357 arrests and the bulk of seizures resulting from intelligence-led operations by police in participating countries.

Nigerian Army deny claim that its officers beat man to death in Ogun state, threaten to sue twitter user

The Nigerian Army has denied claims by a twitter user that some soldiers of the 174 battalion Ikorodu, Lagos state, beat a man identified as Mr George to death at the Ogijo area of Ogun state. A statement released by the Brigadier General Sani Kukasheka Usman, Director Army Public Relations, says the allegation is a figment of the twitter user's imagination. The ARmy has asked the twitter user to tender an unreserved apology otherwise they would take legal action against him. Read the statement after the cut..

Carrie Lam elected as the first female leader of Hong Kong

Carrie Lam the former chief secretary and deputy to current Chief Executive CY Leun has been voted to be the first female leader in Hong Kong. Lam was selected to be the fourth Hong Kong chief executive, with 777 votes from the 1,194-person committee. 

A total of 1,163 valid votes were cast. Speaking to reporters after the result was announced, Lam thanked her rivals and members of the election committee "no matter who they voted for.

Today which was supposed to be their one year anniversary, Ajoke shared photos from their wedding and said that she has forgiven him. She also revealed that their marriage is over. She wrote; 

MAUTECH female student commits suicide due to poor first year result

A 100 level student of the Moddibo Adama University of Technology has committed suicide after she saw her first year result and discovered that her performance was very poor. The girl, who has not been named, ingested insecticide in Oba Adetona Hostel of the University where she lodged.

She was an undergraduate of the department of Management; School of Management and Information Technology (SMIT). According to a source who spoke with LIB her main reason for committing suicide was that she had carry-over in 9 courses in her first semester in the institution.
