Photo: Nigerian woman arrested and charged with welfare fraud in the US for collecting benefits while her husband earned $1.5M per year

A 41-year-old Nigerian mother of four was arrested this week in Arlington, USA and charged with four counts of welfare fraud for collecting over $100,000 in benefits – all while her husband was a high-earning attorney in D.C., police say.

Police say a six-month investigation into Helen Agbapuruonwu, found that she had collected benefits like food stamps and Medicaid assistance for the past six years.

While Helen was collecting benefits, her husband, Fidelis Agbapuruonwu, was earning $1.5 million per year as a lawyer, according to court documents obtained by NBC News4.

In 2001, Fidelis received the prestigious Paul and Daisy Soros Fellowship which helped pay his way through law school.

Jealous Nigerian Air Force personnel kills himself and his classmate/girlfriend in Benue state

A Nigerian Air Force personnel with Facebook name, Lieut Kal has killed himself and his classmate/girlfriend, Oladipupo Solape a.k.a Shomzy Shomzy in Markudi Benue state. 

According to their classmates, he killed her out of jealousy. 

In series of Facebook posts Kal shared before he killed his girlfriend and himself, he described yesterday as his last day as an airman and even wished himself 'RIP'. It is believed that his last post which is '4:36' was the time he killed the young girl. 

Most of his Facebook post shows that he may have been obsessed with the girl as he tags her on all his post and has even declared that he could kill for her. Shomzy however stopped tagging him in her Facebook posts since January, 2017 indicating that they may have broken up.

South Korea: Impeached First Female President, Park, Moves Out Of Official Residence

 

South Korean court on Friday impeached its first female president, Park Geun-Hye, a first in the nation’s history. Park was removed over allegations of corruption and cronyism. 

President Park left the executive mansion, known as the Blue House Sunday and went to her private home in southern Seoul, according to her spokesman Kim Dong-jo.

Park said she is "sorry that I couldn't fulfill my duty as President until the end," Congressman Min Kyung-wook said on her behalf in front of Park's private home, where crowds chanted support for the departing leader.

Fulani Herdsmen Attack Benue Community Again, Many Dead

 

No fewer than seven persons are feared dead in a Fulani attack on Tiv community, Mkgovur village in Buruku local government area of Benue State. 

Punch correspondent gathered that Fulani herdsmen around 8 am yesterday invaded the community armed with guns and machete and unleashed terror on the villagers.

Several persons were said to have been injured in the attack.

Reasons for the attack is sketchy as at the time of filing this report, while one of the villagers described it as unprovoked attack, the leader of Benue State chapter of Myetiala Cattle Rearers Association of Nigerian said that the resistance of the villagers to allow the herders stay in their midst might have been responsible for the attack.
