British High Commission: Jonathan's govt did not reject offer to help rescue Chibok schoolgirls

The British High Commission in Abuja has debunked a report by UK newspaper, The Observer, which claimed that former President Goodluck Jonathan administration rejected the offer by the British Royal Armed Force (RAF) to help rescue over 200 Chibok schoolgirls kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2014.
The former president had swiftly denied the allegations and urged newspapers to "always cross-check their facts before rushing to publish false information, especially when being spread by those who want to unfairly promote their own pride, against our own national interest"

Man hacks 8-year-old daughter over palm nuts


A 50-year-old Ghanaian man from Asuboi-Wawase in Ayensuano District of the Eastern Region, has landed his 8-year-old daughter at the hospital after attacking her with a cutlass. The victim was reportedly crushing palm nuts with a friend of hers, but when her dad returned from the farm, and saw what they were doing, he yelled, chased and attacked her with a cutlass wounding her in the head.
According to the girl's aunt, Comfort Dogah, she returned from a voyage on Saturday night and saw the cut on the girl the next day (Sunday).

Seven terror suspects arrested over plot to assassinate Saudi Arabia's king Salman in Malaysia


Major tragedy was averted as seven suspects were arrested in Malaysia for plotting to kill Saudi Arabia's king Salman just days before the monarch touched down in the country. Inspector General of Police Khalid Abu Bakar said: 'They were planning to attack Arab royalties during their visit to Kuala Lumpur. 
We got them in the nick of time.' Malaysia said it had arrested four Yemenis, one Malaysian, one Indonesian and another man from the Far East - between February 21 and 26 for suspected links to militant groups including ISIS.

Fashola denies frustrating Ambode, says they have been cooperating


Minister of Power, Works and Housing Babatunde Fashola has denied allegations made by Lagos State Governor, Ambode that he is frustrating the government of Lagos State’s  efforts to rebuild the International Airport /Oshodi Road. Fashola in a statement made by his Spokesperson, Hakeem Bello said:


“The allegations of lack of cooperation from the Ministry and frustration of Lagos State Government development initiatives are simply not true and the facts do not bear them out. 

New York cop shoots himself dead over failed relationship with fellow cop girlfriend


A Brooklyn cop, Officer Mike Smith shot himself dead after his relationship with his girlfriend and fellow cop hit the rocks. The 47yr old divorcee who was just few weeks away from retirement committed suicide on Tuesday night at the Manhattan Beach apartment he shared with his girlfriend, also a divorcee. Smith reportedly started dating his new girlfriend after separating from his wife, but it appears things weren't going so well for the new couple.

Police officer rescued from being lynched after breaking into a shop


A Malawian police officer was recused from an angry mob who almost set him ablaze for breaking into a shop. The police officer identified as Raphael Banda and two of his accomplices from Ntcheu were allegedly caught by people trying to steal from a shop at Mtonda Trading Centre. According to Ncheu Police PRO, Hastings Chigaru who confirmed the incident, the police officer is at Ntcheu Police Station awaiting to be charged with an offence.
He said people pounced on them by administering mob justice but when the police were alerted they came to their rescue. However, Chigaru also said that if not for the police rescue team the mob would have set the suspects on fire.
