Ritualists Storm Niger School, Slaughter 3 Students

A deadly ritualist gang has attacked an Islamic school in Tungan Magajiya, Ri-jau Local Government Area of Niger State. 

The attackers who invaded the school in the early hours of Wednesday slaughtered three boys in the process.

The alleged ritualists were said to have removed the throats of the boys after collecting their blood.

Ibori, Bayelsa Governor Dickson Hold Private Meeting in Delta State

Former Delta governor, James Ibori and Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson, today held a closed door meeting in Oghara, Delta State. 

Dickson was accompanied on the visit by the Secretary to State Government, Chief Serena Dokubo-Spiff, some members of the State Executive Council. 

After the meeting, Chief Press Secretary to the Bayelsa State Governor, Daniel Iworiso-Markson, said the meeting was on peace and security in the Niger Delta. No further details were mentioned.

Winnie Mandela Hospitalized

Winnie Madikizela-Mandela, former wife of the late Nelson Mandela, has been hospitalized. 

The South African anti-apartheid veteran went to the hospital for a routine check up on Wednesday but had to be admitted. A statement by her family read, “Mrs Mandela went to the hospital for routine medical checkup on Wednesday, March 8. A decision was taken to admit her for further observation.''


Trump's Travel Ban May Cost US 2026 World Cup Hosting Rights

FIFA, the world governing football body has said that the US may not be allowed to host the World Cup in 2026 due to President Donald Trump's travel ban.  

“Mr Trump is the president of the United States of America and as such of course (I have) huge respect for what he does,” Infantino said.

“He’s in charge, together with his government, to take decisions that are best for his country. That’s why he has been elected.

Etisalat Nigeria Reacts to Reported Take over by Banks

Etisalat has denied reports that it has been taken over by a consortium of Nigerian banks. 

The firm's Head of Public Relations, Ms Oluseyi Osuntedo on Tuesday said talks were still ongoing between the banks and the company.

“Discussions are going on; nobody is taking up the company.

“It is not true that we are being picketed, whoever gave the information is not telling the truth,” she said.

Barrister Eric Omare, the newly elected President of the Ijaw Youth Council (IYC) said, the visits of the Acting President Yemi Osinbajo to Niger Delta states will be a huge waste unless the issue of resource control is addressed.  

Speaking to journalists in Warri, Omare said, “Our view is that why the tour should be used to build confidence, that should be capped up with a dialogue between the Niger Delta people and the federal government to address the key question of resource ownership.

Sultan of Sokoto Tells Buhari to Reverse "Ill Timed" Ban on Importation of Rice, Vehicles

The Sultan of Sokoto, Saad Abubakar III, has called on the Muhammadu Buhari administration to relax the ban on the importation of rice and vehicles through land borders.

Speaking on Thursday when Acting President Yemi Osinbajo paid him a courtesy visit, he said Nigerians were passing through difficult times and policies should not be taken to further heighten the suffering of Nigerians.
