North Korea bans Malaysians from leaving the country over the murder of King Jong-nam.


Due to the controversy surrounding the murder of King Jong-nam, the half-brother of North Korea's leader, the country's foreign ministry has issued a temporary ban on Malaysians leaving the country in order to ensure the safety of its own diplomats and citizens in Malaysia.

The Co-chair of the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, Mrs. Melinda Gates took to her official Facebook page to recount her meeting with a young Nigerian mother of two, whose dream is to one day become a teacher.
LIB recalled that Mrs Gates arrived in Nigeria on January 18th, 2017. She was hosted by Mrs Aisha Buhari at the State House, Abuja, to discuss the challenges facing women and children in Africa.

Kenya arrest 379 illegal herders over the murder of ex-British army officer


Kenya's Interior and Coordination Cabinet Secretary, Joseph Nkaissery on Monday announced the arrest of 379 illegal herders over the Sunday murder of ex-British army officer. The deceased, Tristan Voorspuy, a majority shareholder and founder of Sosian Wildlife Conservancy in Kenya, was shot dead while inspecting some of his lodges that were burnt down by armed herders on Friday. 

Bauchi state government approves death sentence for kidnappers


Bauchi state governor, Gov. Mohammed Abdullahi, has signed into law a bill that attracts a death sentence or life imprisonment for anyone that is found guilty of kidnapping in the state. The state Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Ibrahim Umar, announced this at a press conference in the state Tuesday.

Israel approves recreational use of marijuana


Israel's Cabinet decriminalized the recreational use of cannabis, or marijuana, at its weekly meeting held on Sunday, February 5, 2017.Under the new policy, first-time offenders caught using marijuana in public will be subject to a fine of approximately $250, but will not face criminal charges. The money will be used for drug rehabilitation and education. 
A second offense will be subject to a fine of approximately $500, while a third offense may require rehabilitation, education and a suspended driver's license. A fourth offense will be subject to prosecution and a possible prison term.

Justice Agatha A. Okeke of the Federal High Court sitting in Lafia, Nasarawa State have convicted and sentenced four suspected members of an oil syndicate Olusegun Gbenga, Yusuf Muhammed, Abass Auwal and Olanipekun Olagoke to 10years imprisonment on each of the 12-count charge of oil theft preferred against them by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC. One of the counts reads:
