Power outage occurred at Room 324 as Senate prepared to screen the non-career ambassadorial nominees for whom President Muhammadu Buhari is seeking legislative approval.
The light went off at exactly 12:13 pm. 

Sports IAAF Bans Russia From London World Championships

Russia will miss August’s World Athletics Championships in London after their doping ban was extended on Monday, world governing body president Sebastian Coe said. 
Coe said Russia, whose 15-month ban from athletics was prolonged at the IAAF’s Council meeting in Cap d’Ail near Monaco, could not be reintegrated into the sport before November.

Politics Governor Al-Makura Sacks 10 Commissioners – See NAMES

Governor Umaru Al-Makura of Nasarawa State on Tuesday sacked 10 commissioners and redeployed two others.

The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Mohammed Abdullahi, in a statement indicated that six commissioners were retained, two of which were redeployed to other ministries.

Labour Unions To Hold Nationwide Protest on Thursday

The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) and the Trade Union Congress (TUC) have concluded plans to hold a protest rally over the state of the nation. 
The protest code named ‘national day of action against orruption and for good governance’ will hold simultaneously in Abuja and Lagos.

NLC president, Comrade Ayuba Wabba who addressed journalists on the planned action in Abuja yesterday said the day would be marked with marches, rallies and submission of petition containing a list of demands to the government at the Presidency and the National Assembly.

Edo Assembly Okays 153.2 Billion Naira Budget For Obaseki

The Edo House of Assembly yesterday passed the 2017 budget estimates of N153.2 billion for Governor Godwin Obaseki’s attention.

Obaseki had on December 19, 2016 presented a budget size of N150 billion to the house for consideration and passage. 


The budget as presented by Obaseki consisted of N74.9 billion recurrent expenditures and N75.11billion as capital expenditures but the House increased it by about N3 billion, raising the capital expenditures to N76.6 billion and allocating N76.5 for re-current expenditures.
