NHS Left With Unpaid Bill Of £350,000 After Nigerian Woman Flew To UK To Give Birth To Twins


A Nigerian woman who flew to the UK to give birth to twins left the NHS with an unpaid bill of almost £350,000.


The woman, who has not been identified, had a Caesarean section in 2015 at Luton and Dunstable University Hospital, and her twins then needed to be in an intensive care ward. The hospital confirmed the treatment cost £348,683.


It said in a statement: "This patient was an overseas visitor and was referred to us by another hospital because of complications with her twin pregnancy.
 As an NHS Trust we cannot refuse to treat a patient, wherever they are from, if there is a danger to life. In this case two unborn babies required immediate care.

Daniel Dickson repeatedly abused the woman and used a knife in the brutal attack.

At a sentencing hearing at Teesside Crown Court , Dickson, 31, was jailed for seven years for the assault and repeated rapes.

The Afghanistan veteran had previously admitted unlawful wounding and was found guilty by the jurors of four charges of rape following a trial last month.

But the lie was exposed after 18 years thanks to a series of tip-offs and Williams has now been charged with kidnap.
Kamiyah has since been reunited with her biological parents, Shanara Mobley and Craig Aiken.
But the man who spent 18 years raising Kamiyah as his own daughter by the name of Alexis today spoke of his heartache.
He told ABC : "One of the hardest things she said on Friday was, 'dad, I love you', even though she knows what's going on.
