Petrol: N145 per litre not sustainable – NNPC


The Group General Manager, Crude Oil Marketing Department of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC), Mele Kyari, has said that the sale of petrol at N145 per litre is not sustaining due to the current economic recession. Kyari stated this while speaking at the 10th Oil Trading and Logistics Africa Downstream Week in Lagos.
According to Kyari, the current economic downturn has made it impossible to import petroleum products at the current market price and at the current fixed foreign exchange rate and still make profit as well as recovered the capital invested in importation.

Jonathan at Oxford University, makes case for youth empowerment 'I worked for next generation, not next election'


Former President Dr Goodluck Jonathan yesterday defended his administration’s Transformation Agenda stressing that it was designed to engage the latent potential in the entire nation, as well as stimulate and enable higher productivity.

Jonathan who stated this yesterday in lecture at the Oxford Union of the Oxford University in the United Kingdom, also said that while serving as President of Nigeria, he worked for the next generation and not for the next elections, as a means of ensuring that Nigerian children had a promising future.
He said:

“While serving as President of Nigeria, I worked for the next generation and not for the next elections. Somebody must sacrifice and work for the next generation otherwise your children's children will suffer the same predicaments as you have.

Just two hours after getting married,groom divorces wife for posting their ceremony on snapchat


A furious groom has divorced his bride for posting their ceremony on Snapchat, just two hours after their wedding in Saudi Arabia.

According to Daily Mail, the unidentified couple had a binding agreement not to share pictures or videos of the their ceremony on social media, only for the groom to find out that images of his new wife from the wedding ceremony had been sent to the several female friends, prompting an immediate divorce.

Nigerian Business man, Tony Elumelu met with his Billionaire counterpart, Bill Gates at the Le Cub l’Economie in France where they both spoke about the new role of global philanthropy and its increasing influence on business, politics and culture.
Speaking at the event organized by leading French newspaper, Le Monde, Tony Elumelu who is the Chairman of Heirs Holdings and United Bank for Africa, wrote on his Facebook page:

‘I called for more "structured philanthropy" in Africa, especially targeting young entrepreneurs with great potential, and invited French investors and the larger global development community to join the Tony Elumelu Foundation in supporting thousands of African startups that are already transforming our continent for good.’

Another ambassadorial nominee, Usman Bugaje, rejects his nomination

One of the non-career ambassadorial nominees President Buhari sent to the Senate for confirmation last week, Usman Bugaje from Kastina state, has turned down his nomination. This comes after another‎ nominee from Plateau state, Pauline Tallen rejected her nomination, stating she will not be able to pick up the appointment as she needed time to attend to her ailing husband. ‎Bugaje is yet to release a statement on why he is rejecting his nomination.
