Ekiti At 20: Fayose Thanks Abacha, Founding Fathers


Mr Ayodele Fayose, the Ekiti State Governor has commended the late Sani Abacha for his vision that led to the creation of the State 20 years ago. Ekiti State was created on October 1, 1996 alongside Bayelsa, Gombe, Nasarawa, Ebonyi and Zamfara States.

The governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic, PDP in the September 28 governorship election in Edo State, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, has appealed to his supporters to remain calm over the election results saying it has only shown how the opposition rigged the election. He however assured his supporters that instead of destroying property or protesting, we ‘can take a legal action or even hold a WORLD CONFERENCE’ so the world would know what went down in Edo State or just LEAVE EVERYTHING TO GOD. Ize-Iyamu who is also a Pastor made this known in a statement yesterday. Part of the statement read;

Today – 1st October is a day of celebration for us Nigerians.

On this day, 56 years ago our people achieved the most important of all human desires – freedom and independence. We should all therefore give thanks and pray for our founding fathers without whose efforts and toil we would not reap the bounties of today.
