Sale Of National Assets: NLC Mobilises Nationwide Protest


Organised labour, yesterday, said it was mobilising to confront the Federal Government over its decision to sell some national assets which had before now sustained the nation’s economy.

Organised Labour’s declaration came on a day the National Union of Textile, Garment and Tailoring Workers of Nigeria, NUTGTWN, cautioned President Muhammadu Buhari against planned sale of the assets.

Selling National Assets Will Be A Historic Mistake - Soludo


The federal government will be repeating mistakes of the past should it sell some of the nation’s assets as has been proposed in some quarters, Chukwuma Soludo, former governor of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), has said.

Asset sale has recently emerged as one of the strategies for Nigeria’s quick exit from its current economic recession, and notable public figures have argued for and against it.

Vandalisation Of Pipelines As Made Nigeria Lose 3000mw Of Electricity - Fashola


The Minister of Power, Works and Housing, Babatunde Raji Fashola, has attributed a colossal loss of 3000 megawatts in the last six months (between April and September) to consistent vandalisation and sabotage of the country’s pipelines and assets.

Fashola who gave this disclosure at the Wilson Centre, Washington DC, USA on the sidelines of the just concluded United Nation’s meeting, said, “over 3000 megawatt of power had been lost over the last six months due to consistent vandalism and sabotage of oil and gas pipelines and assets.”

President Barack Obama was presented a conical hat and a red-and-black blanket honoring him after speaking at what will be his final White House Tribal Nations Conference.

Obama started the annual conference and has hosted it each year of his presidency. 

The blanket was a personalized thank you and calls him 'Barack Black Eagle Obama' in honor of his Crow namesake Black Eagle, 'One Who Helps People Throughout the Land'.

Herdsmen Kills 3, Burn Down Houses In Kaduna Villages


Herdsmen have again allegedly killed three in Dogon Daji village and torched part of Antang Village all around Godogodo in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The Godogodo axis has been under intense siege since July by alleged herdsmen. Affected villages said, the alleged Fulani are pushing them out using violence claiming that most of the affected villages have been designated as Cattle Grazing Reserves by the government.
