EDO: Dokpesi Slams CP Over His Ordered Arrest

A Peoples Democratic Party national chairmanship aspirant, Raymond Dokpesi, has slammed the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Haliru Gwandu,  for allegedly ordering  his arrest  over the  electoral violence in  Agenebode,  Etsako-East Local Government Area  during the governorship election in  the state  on Wednesday.

Dokpesi, who addressed  reporters  in his Agenebode home, accused the police of aiding political thugs in the community  to manipulate the  poll in favour of the opposition.

He asked the Inspector-General of Police  Ibrahim Idris to caution policemen  in  the state.

He said, “I am happy that you met me here seated. One  Commissioner of Police has been calling for my arrest over the  violence here for merely coming out to exercise my right to vote.

“I am calling on the Inspector-General of Police to caution his men in Edo State.”

The PDP chief added, “On my perception of the poll, I will say it has been mixed feelings. In spite of the threat of ballot box snatching, it has been peaceful here. But there was a problem with the card readers. I had to vote in another unit. Because I couldn’t  use my car,  I was conveyed in a police vehicle to vote in another unit.”
