The All Progressives Congress (APC) has condemned the former Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on Appropriation, Abdumumini Jibrin, for flouting the party’s order not to make further public comment on the raging furore over the alleged padding of the 2016 budget.
The party threatened to sanction the former committee chair if he continued to make public comments on the scandal.
Mr. Jibrin had accused the Speaker of the House, Yakubu Dogara, and three other principal officers of padding the budget.
The APC, in a letter by its Deputy National Chairman, North, Lawali Shuaibu, to had ordered Messrs Dogara and Ji
brin to stop issuing public statements on the scandal.
The former appropriation committee chairman in a number of tweets last Sunday accused the speaker of conniving with two serving governors and ex-lawmakers in an attempt to change the media narrative against him.
In a statement by its acting spokesperson, Timi Frank, the ruling party accused Mr. Jibrin of lack of respect for a committee led by Mr. Shuaibu which is working tirelessly to resolve the crisis.
“It is now obvious how disrespectful, mannerless and desperate Hon. Jibrin could be even to the leaders of our party which include the national deputy chairman north, national secretary, national treasurer and others who have been sleeplessly working to ensure that peace return to the House,” the party said.
“But if Hon. Jibril does not have respect for Speaker Dogara as a person, it is expected of him to respect the office of the Speaker, the number four citizen of our party and the country. Jibrin should also be told that he has shown clear disrespect for President Muhammadu Buhari who is the leader of our party by this singular act.
