FG sets up taskforce to check high cost of food items


Minister of Information and Culture, Lai Mohammed, said the Federal government has set up a task force that will check high cost of all food items in all markets nationwide. Mohammed disclosed this to state house correspondents in Abuja yesterday. 
According to Lai Mohammed, members of the task force include the ministers of agriculture, finance, water resources and transportation and they have been mandated to submit their interim report within the next one week

Video: Ibori says he will be coming back home soon, plans to appeal his conviction by a UK court

Former Delta state governor, James Ibori, who regained freedom from a UK prison last year December, has said he will be coming back to Nigeria soon and that he will be appealing his conviction by a UK court.  In 2012, Ibori was convicted and sentenced to a 13-year jail term in a UK prison for stealing $200m from the Delta state government.  He told a BBC correspondent that he will be appealing his conviction. 

Jews give Muslims key to their synagogue after town's mosque is razed to the ground

The Jews in a city in Texas demonstrated the true meaning of 'love your neighbour as you love  yourself' by handing the key to their synagogue to the Muslims in their community after the town's only mosque was destroyed in a fire.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 arraigned Shamsudeen Bala, son of a former Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Senator Bala Mohammed before Justice Nnamdi Dimgba of the Federal High Court, Abuja, on a 15-count charge of money laundering to the tune of N1.2 billion.

Indonesian woman and man brutally flogged for allegedly having sex outside marriage


An Indonesian woman received 26 strokes of cane across her back for having sex outside of marriage. The woman along with the man she was accused of having sex with, faced the punishment as having sex outside of wedlock is against strict Sharia law.
The woman was forced to kneel on the ground on the public stage in front of a mosque in Banda Aceh, Indonesia and flogged as a crowd of people look on. After her punishment is over, the man she is accused of having sex with is also brought to the stage and flogged 26 times too.
