Photos: Plane Crash Lands On Packed Spanish Beach As Tourists Flee


Sunbathers on a Spanish beach popular with tourists had to run for their lives when a small plane attempted an emergency landing.

The three-seater aircraft spewed debris across the sands when it crashed onto the Las Teresitas beach in Tenerife shortly before 1pm yesterday.

A woman and a 14-year-old girl managed to walk away from the wreckage with slight injuries, but the pilot, freed by firefighters, suffered more serious injuries.

The trio, of French and Belgian nationality, are recovering in the Hospital of La Candelaria, according to local newspaper La Vanguardia.

We Can’t Afford To Handover To Young People Now- Okorocha


Governor Rochas Okorocha of Imo State, weekend said young people ought to be groomed well before handing over leadership to them. He stated this in Owerri, as part of his Christmas goodwill message to the people of the state, through his Chief Press Secretary, Sam Onwuemeodo.

The release gave some reasons why the governor made the statement. ”What Nigerians and of course the leaders in particular need to do now, is to unite and begin to build a country of our collective dreams and aspirations.”

He added that,”The leaders cannot afford to hand over to the next generation what we have at the moment as a nation, in which ethnicity, religious bigotry and zoning of political offices are still the order of the day.”

The death toll from last Saturday’s attack on the village of Goska, near Kafanchan, Jema’a Local Government Area, LGA, of Kaduna State has risen from five to 11, village sources told Vanguard.

Be Careful How You Treat Past IGs, Arase Warns Idris


The immediate past Inspector-General of Police, Mr. Solomon Arase, has advised his successor, Mr. Ibrahim Idris, to avoid engaging in acts that could bring any past occupant of that office to public ridicule.

In a letter dated December 1, 2016, which he wrote to Idris, Arase pointed out that it was for this reason that while he was in office, he ensured that Force Order 295 was put in place to protect ex-IGs from being demeaned.

Arase, who retired as police IG in June, said it was in the spirit of this order that he desisted from ridiculing the last two IGs before him even though he knew that they each went away with 13 and nine police vehicles respectively when leaving office.

Ritual Killers Attack Family In Ikorodu, Murder Siblings


Some suspected ritual killers have stormed the residence of a family of five children on Saka Adegbose Street, off Olu Odo Road, Ikorodu. The assailants, who struck on Sunday, killed two siblings, Azeezat Oriade and Abeeb Oriade.

Two of the remaining siblings – Abdulazeez and Jamiu – were said to be in a critical condition at the Lagos University Teaching Hospital, Idi-Araba.

It was learnt that the four victims were sleeping in the living room while their mother and one other daughter were in the bedroom when the assailants struck around 1am.


It was gathered that the ritual killers had torn the net on one of the windows to gain access to the apartment and hit the four children with some objects.

Robbers Storm Calabar Christmas Village, Rob Kiss Daniel, Store Owners


Fun seekers in the early hours of Monday scampered to safety after armed robbers stormed the Calabar Christmas Village while a popular Nigerian musician, Daniel Anidugbe, aka Kiss Daniel, was performing.

Punch Metro learnt on Monday that the robbers, whose numbers could not be ascertained, stormed the village at about 1am and shot repeatedly into the air while dispossessing people of their valuables.

It could not be confirmed if anyone was killed in the incident, but it was learnt that several people were stabbed.

It was learnt that some others, who sustained gunshot injuries, had been hospitalised.

While Nigerians were celebrating Christmas in their homes, a housewife, Christiana Odo, allegedly killed her husband, Rominus, for failing to provide money for the family during the celebration.

It was learnt that the incident happened at the couple’s home on London Barber Street, Majidun, in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

It was learnt that Christiana, 37, had asked the husband for money for food to celebrate Christmas, but the husband had said he didn’t have any money. This was said to have led to a quarrel between the couple, which degenerated into a fight.
