Pres. Buhari to appoint Gov. Oshiomhole on an important national assigment

President Buhari has said that the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) will find an important national assignment for the outgoing Edo State Governor, Adams Oshiomhole, when he leaves office. The president said this yesterday at the Palace of the new Oba of Benin, Omo N’Oba N’Edo Nku Akpolokpolo Ewuare II, before embarking on the commissioning of several projects in the state.
“It will be a pity to waste his energy by him retiring. I hope there will be a higher assignment for him to do more for the nation. I congratulate the governor for his hard work; Oshiomhole is a hard working governor. We will need his services in Abuja.  Thank you for inviting me, most especially during this time in the country. You have served two terms and you are about to leave. You deserve a place in history. I hope the APC will look for a place for you because your service for the country is far from over," he said.
President Buhari is currently on a two-day working visit in Edo State.

Seems Donald Trump may be the next US President

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are going to make history if either of them win the election. So far according to CNN, Donald Trump is winning with 245 electoral votes to Hillary's 209 votes. Each candidate needs 270 electoral votes to win the US presidency. Fox News says Trump is winning by 254 electoral votes but the fight is still not over

Recession: FG orders Directors in Ministries, others to henceforth fly only economy class

Following the current economic recession, the Federal government has ordered all director generals in the various Ministries and Managing Directors of Federal parastatals to henceforth fly only economy class for any of their local or international engagements. A circular sent out on November 2nd to all the Ministries and parastatals reads
“In view of the ensuing budgetary and fiscal challenges faced by the Federal Government arising from low oil revenue, it has become necessary to review the Guidelines for Local and International Travels as provided for in Circular Ref. No. SGF. 6/S.2/X/545 of 31st March, 2016 with a view to further prune recurrent expenses on travels and tours. Accordingly, Government has decided that all Civil and Public Servants in the rank of Directors and below in Federal Ministries, Departments and Agencies as well as Chief Executive Officers (Managing Directors, Executive Secretaries, Directors-General, etc) of Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies and Institutions are henceforth to travel on Economy Class for both Local and International travels. Similarly, all non-executive Chairmen and members of Federal Government Boards of Parastatals are henceforth to travel Economy Class".

Russia 2018 WC: Algeria will come to Uyo very well prepared- Coach Gernot Rohr says

Nigeria's chief technical adviser, Gernot Rohr has revealed that his team faces a tough task against Algeria on Saturday after the Super Eagles started their FIFA World Cup Russia 2018 campaign with a 2-1 away win against Zambia at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium last October.

Rohr says he is aware of the huge task ahead in the Super Eagles’ quest for a sixth World Cup appearance, saying they won't leave any stone unturned in the race to Russia 2018. 
“We are happy we won and took the three points from our match against Zambia; I believe all the games in this group will be difficult to win because all the four teams are very strong but we are going to prepare for our next games,” Rohr told CAF's official website CAFonline.com

CAN condemns release of suspected killers of 74 year old Christian woman in Kano over blasphemy


The Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) has condemned the release of the five suspected killers of 74 year old christian woman, Bridget Agbahime, over allegations of blasphemy at Kofar Wambai market, Kano state on June 2nd this year. A magistrate court in Kano last week Thursday November 3rd, set the suspected murderers free on the advise of the Kano state attorney general(read here)
In a statement signed by its Director of Legal and Public Affairs, Kwamkur Samuel, CAN described the manner in which the case has so far been handled as highly provocative and insulting. The association decried the fact that no conviction has been made regarding any murder case that is linked to blasphemy.

Blessing Agbomhere empowers 1000 Etsako youths in line with Godwin Obaseki's promise to create 200,000 jobs


Auchi Polytechnic on Saturday November 5th came alive, as thousands of Etsako youths converged in the polytechnic's auditorium, at the instance of Blessing Abgomhere, whose Foundation empowered  1000 Etsako youths...

The empowerment programme with the theme "Blessing Agbomhere Social Media Summit", had the youths lectured by resource persons drawn from across the country, on the use of the social media for profit making ventures, thus being an instrument for job creation and employment.

Participants at the event were given various items ranging from Notepads, Phones and other gadgets, to enable them get started in the new venture. Certificates of participation were issued to participants in the empowerment programme. Nursing mothers were not left out, as those of them who attended were handsomely rewarded with 30,000 Naira each as take-off grant.

Gen. Buratai attributes recent Boko Haram attacks on clandestine support from some individuals

Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai, has blamed the recent high profile attacks in the North east to the secret support that Boko Haram terror group is getting from certain individuals in the country.

The Army Chief made the remarks on Monday, November 7th, after a meeting with a security delegation from the Atlantic Council, African Centre in the United States of America. 

The meeting held at the Army Resource Centre in Abuja, was convened to assess the threats of Boko Haram insurgency in Nigeria.
"We have some elements who are within this society and are still supporting them clandestinely. So the support of every Nigerian is very key to the end of this terrorism," he stated.
General Buratai noted that the role of the Nigerian Army in prosecuting the counter-terrorism crusade in the northeast has been misinterpreted by some people.
