Police smash kidnapping gang in Rivers State, rescue victim


The Command’s anti – kidnapping Unit of the Rivers State Police Command led by the Commander SP Edward Shadare early Wednesday, acting on credible intelligence smashed a kidnapping gang, at Rumuoduru, Port Harcourt, where Mrs. Abigail Eseme Oroboh who was kidnapped from her residence on Friday Aprll 6, was rescued unhurt.

The operatives while playing along with the kidnappers for ransom, tracked them to their residence where the lady was kept in chains. However on sighting the Police engaged them and in a return fire one of them was fatally wounded while two others escaped.

Items recovered from them include three locally made pistols, one constructed iron riffle, thirty rounds of live Ammunition, one black lexus 330 Jeep, their Operational vehicle which they have been using to perpetrate their criminal acts.

The lady has been debriefed and released to her husband for medical attention. Meanwhile efforts have been intensified to arrest the fleeing hoodlums.

The public is advised to be extra vigilant and report any suspicious movement in their neighborhood to the Police as kidnappers have evolved a new means of kidnapping and taking to their living houses. In two
