Court grants IPOB leader, Nnamdi Kanu, bail


A Federal High court sitting in Abuja has granted bail to the director of the Indigenious People of Biafra IPOB, Nnamdi Kanu.

The trial judge, Justice Binta Nyako granted Kanu bail on health ground today April 25th. As part of his bail conditions, Kanu is expected to provide three sureties with N100 million each.




The sureties must include a serving senator, a jewish religious leader and a highly respected person that must own a land property anywhere in Abuja.


Justice Binta also ordered that Kanu must not grant any press interview or organize any rally pending the outcome of his trial. According to Justice Nyako, Kanu would be released to go home after fulfilling his bail conditions. Kanu was arrested in October 2015 for treasonable offences.
