Soldier Joins Kidnappers To Abduct Rivers Chief


An Army Lance Corporal, Abdul Yusuf, has been arrested alongside one other for the abduction of one Chief Samuel Iheanachor along Aba-Oyigbo Road in Rivers State.

Spokesman of Rivers State Police Command, DSP Omoni Nnamdi, disclosed this yesterday, saying the Lance Corporal of 2 Brigade, Port Harcourt, was caught driving an SUV belonging to the victim.

On interrogation, the soldier admitted that he and others abducted the victim and took him to a hideout in Andoni Local Government Area.


The police image-maker, Omoni, said the hostage had since been released. According to Omoni, “the Anti-Kidnapping Unit of the Command, on October 10, received a complaint of the kidnap of one Chief Samuel Iheanachor by six men along Aba-Oyibgo Road, while he was driving his Toyota Highlander.

“Lance Corporal Abdul Yusuf of 2nd Brigade was arrested driving the SUV on Aba Road.

With him was another man, both wearing Army uniforms. “On interrogation, they confessed to the crime and led the operatives to Asarama in Andoni Local Government Area where the victim was rescued and others arrested.
