Tanzania President sacks 9,932 Govt workers over fake certificates


Tanzanian President John Magufuli on Friday fired 9,932 civil servants who were found using fake educational certificates to work. Magufuli made the announcement on state television after receiving a report on public servants' certificates verification. He said salaries of 9,000 plus employees for this month should be withheld after an investigative task force found that 9,932 government workers presented fake qualifications when they were employed. 

North Korea ballistic missile launch fails again


North Korea launched a ballistic missile today Saturday (in their local time) but the missile exploded soon after launch without completing it, U.S. officials said. The failed test involved a short-range, non-nuclear missile, which would only be able to hit Seoul, but not Japan. A US official said they had warning of the test and watched it closely.

Pope Francis arrived in Egypt on a two day historic visit, where he's preaching the gospel of peace, saying violence cannot be committed in the name of God. The 80-year-old touched down at Cairo airport on Friday, before he was ushered in a car to meet Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi. 

China bans dozens of Islamic names in Xinjiang region

Due to fear of extremism in the northwestern Muslim-majority region of Xinjiang, the Chinese government has listed dozens of 'extreme' Islamic names banned in the Xinjiang province.

The list titled 'Naming Rules For Ethnic Minorities' on the government document which was signed by the ruling Chinese Communist Party and disseminated by Uighur groups included 23 names related to historic religious, political figures and places that are deemed to be ‘overly religious’

 A 41-year-old man who raped a five-year-old girl in Croydon, UK has been jailed for 13 years.

Jerry Ablorh of Bensham Grove, Thornton Heath, was sentenced on Friday, April 28, at Croydon Crown Court having previously been found guilty of rape and two counts of sexual assault by penetration.
