Grandmother pleads guilty to the murder of her 2-year-old grandson


44-year-old Patricia Flores, a Texas grandmother, has pleaded guilty to the murder of her 2-year-old grandson, Lyfe Flores which occurred last year. Lyfe was severely burned in a bathtub but was not taken to the hospital for nearly a week. By the time she finally took action, he was far gone and did not stand a chance.

Patricia told the police that Lyfe had climbed into a tub filled with hot water she was using to clean and that was how he sustained the injuries. She said she failed to get him medical care because she is a nursing assistant and thought she could treat him by herself. She eventually got the police involved six days later after the boy had reportedly gone into shock. 

Regular use of aspirin may reduce your risk of dying from cancer - New Research claims

According to a new study on long-term regular aspirin use and different kinds of cancer, an aspirin a day may reduce your chances of dying from cancer.

Yin Cao, an instructor in the Medicine, Clinical and Translational Epidemiology Unit at Massachusetts General Hospital and Harvard Medical School, presented the information at the American Association for Cancer Research meeting in Washington.
 
Cao looked at data from over 86,000 women who were part of the Nurses' Health Study between 1980 and 2012 and over 43,000 men who were part of the Health Professionals Follow-Up Study from 1986 to 2012.

3,800 new cases of HIV recorded in Borno IDP camps in three months

3,800 new cases of HIV infections have been recorded in Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps in the state between January to March 2017. 

Malam Barkindo Saidu, the Executive Secretary, Borno Agency for the Control of HIV/AIDS (BOSACA) who disclosed this in Maiduguri on Wednesday, said that the new cases were recorded after voluntary screening in 15 IDPs camps in the state.

He said that currently 2.4 per cent of the population of the state or about 108,000 persons are living with HIV and AIDS, going by the demographic survey provided by the National Population Commission.

Heavily pregnant Ciara takes her son to visit the Easter bunny just days to her delivery date

Heavily pregnant Ciara was sighted on Wednesday looking ready to pop as she took her son Future Zahir Wilburn, 2, to visit the Easter bunny at The Grove in Los Angeles.
