54 First Class students graduate from Osun State University


The Vice Chancellor of the Osun State University (UNIOSUN ),Prof. Labode Popoola, confirmed that 54 students made first class  honours in the 2016/2017 academic session. He also said that the first class students and 1, 182 others would be awarded first degrees at the university’s convocation ceremony scheduled to hold on April 6, 2017.

512 other students made second class (upper division), 539, second class (lower division) and 129, third class.

Twin brothers who were part of a gang of six who stabbed and beat a 15-year-old boy were on Friday, March 31, sentenced to almost ten years in prison.
The six teenagers were found guilty of grievous bodily harm with intent at Inner London Crown Court on Tuesday, 14 February.
Taylor Joseph, 18, of Ewen Crescent, Brixton was jailed on for five years. His twin brother Brandon Joseph, 18, was jailed for four and a half years.

Angry mob attack Police station, manhandle policeman over death of a suspect who died in a police cell (Video)


Angry residents from the Ekpu community in the Half Asini District in Ghana on Wednesday attacked the District Police station over the death of a suspect who died in a police cell. The deceased was arrested after he was accused of stealing ladies dress and made to spend more than 72 hours in cells after allegedly denied bail.
It was reported that on his second day in the cell, the deceased identified as Kwabena Assuah was said to have shouted a number of times and complained of seeing scary images inside the cell before his death.

Civil rights activist, Darcus Howe dies at 74


Civil rights activist, Darcus Howe has died. Darcus, a writer and broadcaster who campaigned for black rights for more than 50 years and organised the 1981 Black People's March after the New cross fire in which 13 black teenagers died.
His biographer Robin Bunce said Mr Howe "died peacefully in his sleep" on Saturday at the age of 74.
In 2009, Mr Howe wrote in The Guardian about his prostate cancer diagnosis. "Long live the NHS", he wrote, after describing how his treatment had been successful following the 2007 diagnosis.

According to the 39-year-old businessman who married Janet and Osioni on Sunday, March 26, in  Isoko South LGA of Delta State, he told Sunday Telegraph in a chat that, 'The reason why I married them is to make sure that I am comfortable and I don’t look out again for other women.'
