Saraki congratulates Justice Walter Onnonghen, CJN

Senate President Bukola Saraki has congratulated the new Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Walter Onnoghen. The Senate on Wednesday confirmed Onnoghen after 45 minutes screening.
"Today, we screened and cleared Justice Walter Samuel Onnonghen, CFR for confirmation as the Chief Justice of Nigeria. The screening represents a major milestone in the progress of our democratic process," Sarki said in a statement.

Nigerian software engineer detained at New York airport and made to sit a written test to prove his skills


A Nigerian software engineer, Celestine Omin claims that he was made to sit a written test by US airport immigration officers in order to prove his skills.

Omin, 28, who works with Andela, a tech start-up, landed in New York's JFK airport last Sunday after a 24-hour flight from Nigeria. He had been granted a short-term visa to work with First Access, a financial technology company in Manhattan district, New York.

Professional golfer, Rory McIlroy, opened up for the first time about the criticism he received for playing golf with US President Donald Trump. He said that he accepted the invitation to play only out of respect for the office of the President and said he has no regrets doing that.
The 27-year-old Northern Irishman, however, admitted that he was shocked by the outcry that greeted his decision.

In the absence of their father and sister, Ivanka, the siblings wore a broad smile as they fulfilled their family duties by cutting the ribbon to indicate the opening of the Trump Hotel and Tower.

Nigeria international, Victor Moses signs new four-year contract with Chelsea FC

Nigeria International, Victor Moses has signed new contract with Chelsea, the club announced today.
The 26-year-old winger's previous deal was due to expire in 2019 but Moses has now extended his stay until 2021 after he put pen to paper today, March 1st.
Moses has been one of the stars and an important part of the Blues'  success this season, with the club on course for the Premier League title, having been converted by boss Antonio Conte into a right wing-back, a role he's taken to effortlessly.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, today arraigned the duo of Usman B Abdurahman, a.k.a Kilishin Dass, and Hafizu Dauda of the Bauchi State Judiciary before Justice M. A. Sambo of the Bauchi State High Court on six count charges bordering on conspiracy, obtaining of goods under false pretence and presenting false documents. The suspects who are the Secretary and Treasurer respectively for the Amalgamated Union of Public Corporations, Civil Service Technical and Recreational Services Employees, (AUPCTRE) Judiciary Branch, Bauchi State were arrested by EFCC operatives following a petition by one Aliyu B Usman, former Chief Registrar, High Court of Justice Bauchi State and now a Honourable Justice of the Bauchi State High Court.
