NYSC Issues Statement on Batch A 2017 Online Registration Date


The National Youth Service Corps, NYSC, has denied viral reports that the online registration of 2017 Batch A corps members will begin on Monday 8th February, 2017.

The Republicans upended standard committee rules to circumvent a Democratic boycott.

Mugabe Talks Tough Over Re-admission Of Morocco To African Union

Zimbabwe President Robert Mugabe says the vote to readmit Morocco to the African Union (AU) shows a lack of ideology by some African leaders after more than 30 years of leaving the Union.

Speaking to state media on his return home from the AU Summit in Ethiopia, Mr Mugabe said the lure of Morocco’s money had won over principle.

“Morocco has been working for quite a long time, building mosques here, giving money at times”, he said.

Ambode Signs Death Penalty Bill For Kidnappers Into Law

The Lagos State Governor, Akinwunmi Ambode, has signed into law a bill stipulating death penalty and life imprisonment for kidnappers.

The prohibition of the Act of kidnapping law imposes a penalty of life imprisonment on kidnapping for ransom.

It also stipulates that where a victim dies in the course of kidnap, the suspect is liable on conviction to death.

Nigerian Army Arrests 3 APC Governor Associates Over Alleged Links to Boko Haram

About to two powerful politicians in Borno state and a traditional ruler have been arrested by the men of the army over suspected links to Boko Haram terrorists.

The names of the politicians are being withheld but TheCable reported that they are close associates of an APC governor.
The third - a traditional ruler is also said to be the first son of another prominent ruler in the state.

Theresa May: UK Prime Minister Finally Condemns Donald Trump Travel Ban

UK Prime Minister Theresa May has condemned President Donald Trump's visa ban on 7 Islamic nations. 

According to her, the policies aren't for the benefit of anybody.

"On the policy that President Trump has introduced, this government is clear that that policy is wrong," She said after being pressed by opposition Labour Leader Jeremy Corbyn.
"We believe it is divisive and wrong," she said, speaking to MPs for the first time after the travel ban was implemented.

Iran President Still Upset About Travel Ban, Calls Trump A Learner On Live TV


Iran's President Hassan Rouhani dismissed his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump as a political novice on Wednesday, stepping up criticism of the Republican's immigration policies including a temporary travel ban on Iranians.

Tehran has already said it will take legal, political and reciprocal measures in response to Trump's order suspending the entry of people from Iran and six other Muslim-majority countries.
