Bills Targeting Protests In U.S. States Fuel Free Speech Fears


Republican lawmakers in several central U.S. states are pushing bills that would crack down on demonstrations, drawing criticism from free speech campaigners and underlining the polarization over protests in the era of President Donald Trump.

Bills have been introduced over the past month in states including North Dakota, Indiana and Iowa that would impose measures such as harsher penalties for demonstrators who disrupt traffic, and scrapping punishment for drivers who unintentionally strike protesters blocking their vehicles.

CAN Defends Apostle Suleman, Says Osinbajo’s ‘Silence’ No Longer Golden



The Christian Association of Nigeria has vowed to defend the founder of Omega Fire Ministries, Johnson Suleman, after operatives of the State Security Service tried to arrest him on Tuesday.

The group also criticised Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, saying he has failed to speak up against attacks on Christians.

Fiery Edo State-based preacher, Mr. Suleman, caused a stir by calling for the killing of Fulani herdsmen found near his church.

Customs Seizes 2 Helicopters At Lagos Airport, Hands Them Over To Air Force


The Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos Command of Nigerian Customs Service, NCS, yesterday seized two Bell civil models l Helicopters which were imported into the country last year but remained unclaimed at the ware house of the Skyways Aviation Handling Company Limited ,SAHCOL, at the cargo section of the airport.
The two abandoned helicopters have therefore been handed over to the Nigerian Air Force to fight insurgency in the North East.
Confirming the seizure yesterday, the Customs Area Controller, Frank Allanah disclosed that the duty paid value of the two helicopters and other accessories was over N9,757,135,240.86.

Donald Trump Bans Syrian Refugees Indefinitely From US, Other MUSLIM Nations


The reality of Donald Trump's hardline stance on immigration came into force last night when he ordered a four-month ban on all refugees entering the US.

The President also singled out refugees from Syria as barred from entering the country indefinitely, or until he himself decides they are allowed in.

No visas will be issued to immigrants from seven mainly-Muslim nations including Syria, Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan and Yemen for 90 days.

"I'm establishing new vetting measures to keep radical Islamic terrorists out of the United States of America. Don't want them here," Trump said earlier on Friday at the Pentagon.

Hollywood Actor John Hurt Passes Away At 77 After Battling Cancer


Sir John Hurt, the two-time Oscar nominated star of the Elephant Man, has died at the age of 77, his agent confirmed this morning.

Tributes poured in from the world of showbiz with the director Mel Brooks hailing him as a 'truly magnificent talent'.

Hurt first rose to fame in A Man For All Seasons in 1966 and later clinched a BAFTA for best supporting actor, along with an Oscar nomination, for playing a drug addict in Midnight Express.
Hurt picked up yet another BAFTA just two years later in 1980 - this time as a leading actor in David Lynch's Elephant Man.

British Man, 18, Dies After Falling From Sydney High Rise Apartment Balcony Where He Lived After A Night Of Drinking


A British teenager has died after falling from the balcony of a high-rise apartment in Sydney following a night of drinking.

The victim was identified as an 18-year-old man who had recently moved into the inner-city apartment.

He plummeted to his death from a 16th floor balcony at Saunders Street in Pyrmont, about 3.30am on Saturday.
