Recall that she was sentenced to 10 year imprisonment this morning by a judge for fraudulently defrauding the Federal Government of over N700m. African Migrant Drowns In Venice In An Apparent Suicide As Hundreds Of People Watch And Refuse To Save Him

A migrant from Africa has drowned in Venice's Grand Canal as tourists and locals filmed the apparent suicide on their phones.

The young migrant, named as Pateh Sabally, a 22-year-old Gambian, was seen jumping into the water from a pier and swimming to the middle of the large canal.

Hundreds of people witnessed the leap and at least three life rings were thrown into the water near the man, but he refused to hold on to them, raising speculation he wanted to commit suicide. No-one jumped in to help him. 

Italian magistrates have opened an investigation into the incident after a video of the scene was posted on the Internet amid claims were shouting racist abuse.

Teenager Who Stabbed Ex-Friend To Death Over Tracksuit Row Jailed For Life

A 17-year-old boy who stabbed a teenager to death at a party after a row over a tracksuit has been put behind bars for life. Aaron Alexander Tavares-Gaiete will spend a minimum of 14 years in jail before he can be considered for release after murdering his 16-year-old classmate Munashe Charles Kutyauripo.

Tavares-Gaiete, of Ilford, east London, was found guilty of the murder following a retrial at the

Old Bailey.

Mrs Ada Ugo-Ngali, the Managing Director of Ontario Oil and Gas Ltd, was on Thursday sent to jail for 10 years for defrauding the Federal Government of N754 million in oil subsidy transactions. 

Justice Lateefa Okunnu of an Ikeja High Court handed down the verdict, the first conviction since the massive oil subsidy fraud trial allegedly perpetuated by oil marketers began in 2012. 

Walter Wagbatsoma, Ugo-Ngadi’s co-defendant and the Chairman of Ontario Oil and Gas Ltd, was absent in court for the judgment. He is currently being held in the United Kingdom on charges relating to a £12 million National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) Trust fraud.
