Must watch video: Garba Shehu says Southern Kaduna crisis is as a result of Christians and Muslims attacking each other


Sometime this week, president Buhari's Senior Special Adviser on media and publicity, Garba Shehu, was a guest on Channels TV where he fielded questions on the security situation in southern Kaduna. He said that contrary to misrepresentation by the mainstream media, the conflict is not political or religious but a communal conflict with Christians and Muslims attacking each other. This introduces a new angle to the narrative.
It will be recalled that the Northern Governors Forum recently said herdsmen from other countries are responsible for the attacks. While maintaining that the conflict is more communal than religious or political, he said the region is the only one in the entire north west with a PDP senator and this could be a factor. 

PDP chairman Ahmed Makarfi says APC politicians are behind rumours of president Buhari's death

A Ghanaian man identified as John Kwame Atta Owusu, whose wife and three children perished in a fire outbreak in Finland, says he completely went dumb for 3 hours after hearing the heartbreaking news. His wife, Nana Ago Prah and three children all died in the early hours of Friday, December 9, 2016, when their home was razed down by the fire.
Speaking in a recent interview with 3news, the heartbroken husband recalled the moment he received sad news about his family's demise.

Hollywood actress, Mary Tyler Moore dies at age 80


Iconic actress Mary Tyler Moore, whose eponymous '70s sitcom helped usher in a new era for women on television is dead. Her longtime representative Mara Buxbaum, confirmed that she died on Wednesday January 25, 2017 at the age of 80.

"Today beloved icon Mary Tyler Moore passed away at the age of 80 in the company of friends and her loving husband of over 33 years, Dr. S. Robert Levine. A groundbreaking actress, producer, and passionate advocate for the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, Mary will be remembered as a fearless visionary who turned the world on with her smile" she said.

Photos: Lagos State Police begin enforcement of traffic law on Friday


Bent on the enforcement of the Lagos State Road Traffic Law as well as prevention of crime committed with the use of motorcycles in the metropolis, the Lagos State Police Command in collaboration with other security agencies will on Friday, Jan 27th, begin a clamp down on motorcyclists plying prohibited routes.
This was the resolution of a meeting held on Tuesday, January 24th, at the office of the Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Fatai Owoseni, and attended by representatives of other security and transport related agencies in the state.

No plan for re-absorption of dismissed soldiers- Nigerian Army

In a press statement released by Sani Kukasheka Usman, Brigadier General Director, the army has denied the re-absorption of dismissed soldiers. The statement reads:
"The attention of the Nigerian Army has been drawn to false information circulating through WhatsApp and other social media platforms on the purported re-absorption of dismissed regiments (Soldiers) between 2006 to date into the Nigerian Army.The Nigerian Army has no plan for any re-absorption of dismissed soldiers as assumed. Members of the public are please urged to discountenance such false information.
