All my statements to EFCC were done under duress, they were not voluntary- former aide to GEJ, Waripamo Dudafa, tells court


Former Special Adviser on Domestic Affairs to ex-President Goodluck Jonathan, Waripamo Dudafa, has accused EFCC operatives of forcing him to make false statements that would implicate him since his arrest in April 2016.

Dudafa who is standing trial alongside two others on a 23-count of conspiracy and concealment of crime proceeds of about N1.6 billion, made the allegation when he appeared before the Federal High Court Lagos yesterday January 23rd.

He told the court that since his arrest on April 17th last year, the antigraft agency had forced him to make series of incriminating oral and written statements and that whatever statement the court has before it was done when gotten through maximum application of force and torture on him.

Okonjo-Iweala, Sanusi begged us to save but we as governors refused - former governor, Peter Obi says


Former Anambra state governor, Peter Obi, said that while he was a governor, himself and other governors that served under the Goodluck Jonathan administration, refused to heed the warning of former Minister of Finace, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala and Former Central Bank Governor, now Emir of Kano, Muhammad Sanusi II, to save for the rainy day.

Obi said this in an interview with CNBC Africa, yesterday January 23rd. He said he was against the plan by this administration to borrow funds from China and other Financial institutions.

Soulja Boy may spend 4 years in prison over Felony Gun charge


Away from the beef with Chris Brown, it seems Soula Boy is in alot more trouble. He is now facing a felony for the guns police found in his house during his December arrest.
The L.A. County D.A. just slapped him with 2 felonies. First, for possession of an assault weapon and being a felon in possession of a firearm.

He was also charged with a misdemeanor for receiving stolen property cops say one of the guns in Soulja's house was reportedly stolen from a cop car.

The assault weapon charge is for a Mini Draco AR-15 which is illegal for anyone to possess in California. If convicted Soulja could face more than 4 years in prison, so far he's pled not guilty and will be back in court next month.

FG releases N72bn for funding of Lagos-Ibadan modernization railway project


The Federal government has released N72billion being the full counterpart funding for the construction of Lagos-Ibadan modernization railway project.

Minister of Transport, Rotimi Amaechi, announced this at the 2nd Presidential Quarterly Business Forum which held at the State House Banquet Hall, Abuja on Monday 23rd, January 2017.

According to him, the counterpart funding was released in full so that there will be no delay in the project implementation, since the Chinese loan appears to have been approved.

Fulfilling his campaign promise? LGBT rights page erased from WhiteHouse website shortly after Trump assumes office


Shortly after Donald Trump assumed office, everything on the Whitehouse' official website was moved and archived on a new Obama website and was replaced with a Trump site.

The updated WhiteHouse.gov website neglected to include certain social issues that seem to matter to some America citizens, issues like LGBT rights, Civil rights and climate change. A search for LGBT on the WhiteHouse.gov website came up with a blank.

A report on the Labour Department's website on LGBT workers rights was also removed, prompting the LGBT community to express fears that a Trump administration will mean several steps back in the progress made to promote their rights.

Video: 69 year old Minnesota governor collapses during state speech


Mark Dayton, the 69 year old governor of Minnesota fainted during his state of the state address on Monday. "Tonight, Gov. Dayton briefly fainted after speaking for about 40 minutes. He quickly recovered, walked out of the Capitol and returned home," his chief of staff, Jaime Tincher said.
EMTs on scene performed a routine check on the governor at the Capitol and cleared him to go home. The governor has since returned home to be with his family and plans to present his 2017 budget Tuesday morning as planned. Video of the event showed aides rushing to catch Dayton before he fell to the floor.

Former President George Bush may be out of the hospital this week (Photo)


Ailing former US president George H.W. Bush will be moved out of the Houston Methodist Hospital Intensive Care Unit soon but he will remain in the hospital for now, his doctor said in a news conference.

"A Friday discharge might be a little bit optimistic, It's a bit of a moving target" Dr. Clint Doerr told reporters.

However, former First Lady Barbara Bush who was hospitalized with her hubby has been discharged from the hospital.
The former president's doctors said he is in good spirits, as well as sitting up and watching television.
