14 people killed as severe weather strikes Georgia

Catherine Howden, the spokeswoman for Georgia Emergency Management Agency confirms that 14 people were killed in a severe weather that struck southern Georgia in the overnight hours of Saturday into Sunday. She said the agency was working to assess the damage but she also confirms that at least two of the deaths occured in Brooks County.

Bayelsa opts for No work, No pay pay theory


The Bayelsa State Government has announced a number of stern measures, including outright dismissal of any of its workers who would be found culpable of absenteeism, truancy, payroll fraud and other sharp practices that are inimical to the public service rules.
Also, as part of efforts to enhance the productivity and welfare of the workers, the government says, it has approved the reinstatement of monthly imprest, otherwise known as overhead cost to enable all MDAs and parastatals cater for some of their basic needs.

British sniper killed three ISIS terrorists with a single shot


In what has been described as a shot in a million, a British marksman in Iraq killed three senior ISIS terrorists with one shot from a range of 1800m as they were preparing to fire shots into a crowd of women and children. According to a source who spoke with The Daily Star Online, a SAS squad was tracking the IS members when dozens of women and children tried to flee from the extremists.
When the terrorists ordered the civilians to stop and pointed a machine gun at the crowd from a second-storey window, the SAS team decided they had no choice but to open fire and save the fleeing group.
The marksman saved the day with his wonder shot taken from a rifle fitted with a suppressor to reduce noise.

The Lagos State Police on January 20, 2017 arrested two members of a notorious armed robbery gang along railway line by Moshalasi Alhaja area of Lagos State.
At about 04:15HRS of the said date the command received a distress call from a resident alleging that armed men were terrorizing inhabitants along railway line by Moshalasi in Agege.
The patrol team  were mobilized to the scene,  immediately the miscreants sighted the policemen they opened fire on the policemen, the police responded and two of the suspected armed robbers were apprehended.
