Protesters storm EFCC office in Abuja, demand for Ekiti state governor, Ayo Fayose’s prosecution over $2.1bn Arms Scandal

Some protesters under the aegis of “Patriotic Mothers Without Borders”, on Friday, January 20, 2017 stormed the EFCC Abuja headquarters calling for the “arrest, investigation and prosecution” of Ayo Fayose, governor of Ekiti State, over his alleged involvement in the $2.1 billion arms deal scandal.

Chanting “Fayose must go”, the women numbering about 300 carried various placards and banners with inscriptions like “EFCC Must Prosecute Fayose”, “Corruption is Corruption”, “Fayose is being tormented by the blood of innocent Nigerians slaughtered by Boko Haram”.

Anti-Trump protesters vandalize cars, smash windows in Washington

Just as Donald Trump's inauguration was about to kick-off, protesters took to the streets of Washington, clad in all black to vandalize cars and shop window.

The group who refer to themselves as Black Bloc targeted a Bank of America branch and a McDonald's restaurant. Videos show the protesters running through the streets, overturning bins and breaking car and shop windows.

Black Lives Matter and feminist organizations were also among the groups that protested Trump's inauguration earlier today.

Police wearing riot gears have dispersed the protesters with pepper spray, restoring peace for the time being, however, it is feared that more demonstrations might hold in other places before the inauguration is over.

A young child is among at least four people killed and up to 25 injured after a crazed driver is alleged to have 'deliberately' ploughed into crowded shoppers on a street in Melbourne.

A maroon Holden Commodore brought an area of the city centre to a standstill today as the driver performed 'donut' manoeuvres outside the main train station while leaning out the window and shouting at onlookers.

Dimitrious "Jimmy" Gargasoulas, 26, has been named by local media as the man at the wheel.

As hundreds of people watched on, including police officers, the car then sped off at about 80km/hr towards the main Bourke Street Mall and mounted the pavement.

Soldiers Repel Boko Haram Attack On Rann IDP Camp, Kill 8

Days after the accidental bombing by a Nigerian airforce jet, which killed at least 54 persons, Rann IDP Camp in Borno State came under another attack, this time, by Boko Haram insurgents. 

Witnesses in Rann said soldiers deployed to secure the bombed IDP camp battled for hours to repel over 100 Boko Haram gunmen who came attacking at about 6pm. 

A source from Rann informed Premium Times that the soldiers stood their ground and killed eight of the attacking insurgents.

 The source, who asked not to be quoted for his security sake, said a soldier was wounded in the attack.
