Texas police detective Jerry Walker killed in standoff


A Texas police detective Jerry Walker died after being shot by a man barricaded inside a residence, the town's police chief said at a news conference on Tuesday night. 

The suspected gunman was later found dead after the hours-long standoff.


The last police detective along with a group of officers responded to an afternoon 911 call of an armed man in a backyard. Officers observed a man with  a rifle screaming, according Lt. Orlando Hinojosa. The suspect then ran into the residence, and after a period of talking with officers, began firing his weapon.
Walker, 48, was shot by the suspected gunman, placed in a squad car and transported by helicopter to a local hospital where he later died from his injuries.

Niger Delta rulers did not walk out on Vice President Osinbajo- Presidency


Special Adviser to Vice President Yemi Osinbajo on Media and Publicity, Laolu Akande, has denied online reports that traditional rulers in the Niger Delta walked out on Osinbajo during a meeting with them on Monday January 16th. 

Osinbajo had visited the region to chart new ways of restoring peace to the region as well as find solutions to the under development in that area despite the presence of oil.

“Please warn your people to not be on the wrong side of history because the Gambian people have spoken” Gambian journalist warns Nigerian Judges

As tension heightens in Gambia due to President Yahyah Jammeh's refusal to concede power to the winner of the last Gambian election, Adama Barrow, a Gambian journalist has called on Nigerian Judges to desist from allowing themselves to be used by Jammeh as mercenaries to veto the people's choice.
The journalist who gave her name as Fatu revealed that Yahya Jammeh is trying to put together a petition at the supreme court and that information reaching The Gambian people is that the Chief Justice has initiated a recruitment process for supreme court judges to come to The Gambia since there is only one supreme court judge in Gambia at the moment and that happens to be the Chief Justice.
"I want to start by saying that if you do not want to be on the wrong side of history, please warn your members to not be part of outgoing President Yahya Jammeh's mercenary," Fatu said in a video shared on Twitter.

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has impounded a N948million aircraft allegedly belonging to former Borno State governor and PDP factional chairman, Ali Modu Sheriff.
According to The Nation, the aircraft was seized on Monday at the Maiduguri International Airport along with two other private jets under surveillance at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport in Abuja.

The very secretive state of North Korea has told U.S President Barack Obama to focus on leaving the White House rather than North Korea's track record of human rights abuses after the US Department of the Treasury's Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) on Monday imposed additional sanctions on North Korea for it's flagrant abuse of human rights.


The sanctions by OFAC  which includes blacklisting seven North Korean citizens, North Korea leader Kim Jong-un's sister among them, were being enacted alongside the United State Department's "Report on Serious Human Rights Abuses or Censorship in North Korea," 

Video: Disturbing footage shows elderly woman abusing infant in South Africa

A 68-year-old woman believed to be a child carer, was caught on cellphone footage, putting her hand over a struggling infant’s face until the baby went limp.

The South African Police followed up on the information after the video surfaced online and located the woman in Diepsloot. The woman has been arrested and charged with child abuse and will appear in court soon. Watch the video after the cut...
