Naira Crashes Against Dollar For The First Time In 2017 (See Details)

The Nigerian Naira on Thursday, January 5, weakened against the American Dollar at the parallel market for the first time in 2017.
According to reports, the Naira lost three points to the dollar as it closed at N493 to a dollar, against N490 it traded on Wednesday, January 4.
Also, the Pound Sterling and the Euro exchanged for N595 and N506, respectively.
At the Bureau De Change (BDC) window, the Naira traded at N399 to a dollar, the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) controlled rate, while Pound Sterling and the Euro closed at N598 and N510 respectively.

“Nigerians Enslaving Nigerians In Nigeria” – NUPENG Shuts Down Total Plc Over Sacked Workers

NIGERIA Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers, NUPENG, yesterday, crippled loading activities at Total Nig Plc depots nationwide, over termination of workers appointments.
Alhaji Tokunbo Korodo, South-West Chairman of the union, said the management of Total had been resisting the unionisation of workers under its contract programme in Lagos, Kaduna and Koko in Delta blending plants.
Korodo lamented that the management of Total had moved further in terminate the employment of workers, who had joined the union despite the union efforts aimed at resolving the issue amicably.

The Lagos State Environmental Sanitation and Special Offences Unit (Task Force ) has concluded arrangement to charge 71 arrested street traders and miscreants to the Lagos State Environmental courts for immediate prosecution.

A statement from the taskforce said the operatives of the agency carried out an enforcement exercise to dislodge traders from hawking, selling and displaying wares on road setbacks/walkways in order to protects their lives and pave ways for the free-flow of traffic on Ketu axis to Ikorodu roundabout.

British Man Dies After Falling Off Breakwater On Costa Del Sol Beach


A British man has died after he fell off a breakwater at a beach on Spain's Costa del Sol. It is believed the 45-year-old man was on holiday when he apparently lost his footing while out walking at the beauty spot.

A local resident called emergency services after spotting what he thought was a man's body in the sea.

But firefighters who were called out could do nothing because their specialist maritime unit was disbanded years ago and they did not have the required resources or personnel. The incident occurred around midday on Thursday at La Malagueta beach in Malaga.

Dylann Roof Unapologetic for Killing 9 Black Worshipers in Charleston Church: ‘I Have Not Shed a Tear’

Dylann Roof offered no apology for the June 2015 murders of nine black people at a historically black South Carolina church in a jailhouse manifesto read during his sentencing trial on Wednesday.
“I would like to make it crystal clear I do not regret what I did,” Roof wrote in the jailhouse journal seized by authorities in 2015, according to the New York Times. “I am not sorry. I have not shed a tear for the innocent people I killed.”
In December, a jury of three black people and nine white people found Roof guilty of hate crimes, religious obstruction and firearms violations in the June 2015 attack. Roof had pleaded not guilty.
