Drama In Rivers State As Former Speaker Re-Emerge Speaker


The former Speaker of Rivers State House of Assembly, Mr. Ibani Ikuinyi-Owaji who resigned from office  on the 18th of December,  2015 under controversial circumstances, has re-emerged the new Speaker as  Adams Dabotorudima resigned yesterday.

Recall Adams Dabotorudima who resigned today had succeeded Ikuinyi-Owaji last year, now Ikuinyi is also succeeding him.

He, Ibani Ikuinyi-Owaji, was elected in an exercise that was conducted by the Deputy Speaker of the House, Mr. Marshal Uwom.

Speaker Of Rivers State House Of Assembly Resigns...The 2nd In A Year


The Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Adams Dabotorudima has resigned from office. It will be the second time a speaker in the House of Assembly would be resigning in one year.

He resigned today, Friday, December 30, 2016.

Recall that Dabotorudima’s predecessor in office, Mr. Ikuinyi-Owaji Ibani, resigned on Friday, December 18, 2015.

Serena Williams touched down in New Zealand and hit the tennis court after announcing that she is engaged to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian in a sweet poem.

The tennis star revealed on Thursday that her boyfriend of almost two years Ohanian had popped the question after whisking her away on a surprise trip to Rome.

Williams, 35, shared the news on Reddit by posting a poem, writing: 'At the same table we first met by chance / This time he made it not by chance / But by choice / Down on one knee / He said 4 words /And I said yes.'

Islamic Organisations Reject Gender Parity Bill


The Conference of Islamic Organisations, CIO has rejected the gender parity bill currently in the National Assembly describing it as offensive and anti-Islam. CIO said the bill seeking to ensure men and women have equal right to inheritance among other areas is unacceptable.

The bill, sponsored by Senator Biodun Olujimi (PDP, Ekiti South), seeks to guarantee women equal rights with their male counterparts and it has passed the second reading. The bill also proposes that a widow is entitled to the custody of her children unless it is contrary to the interests and welfare of the children.

Ebonyi: Teacher Dies With Four Children On Christmas Day


The people of Ozizza in Afikpo area of Ebonyi State are still in a state of shock following the “mysterious death” of a teacher and her four children during Christmas. The oldest child was aged six while the last was six months old.

The woman whose name was given as Mrs Faith Ejim- Egwu, was said to have been recently posted to the Unity Secondary School in the area. She was said to be boiling something on the Christmas eve at about 7.30 pm when she took out her last child to bathe her while the other three children were already asleep.

But at a point, she was said to have noticed that the fire on the stove was low and went inside the kitchen of her two- room apartment with the child she was bathing to ascertain the problem.
