Photos: Customs Area Comptroller Tin-Can Island Command hands over intercepted arms to DSS


Earlier today, LIB shared a report of some arms and ammunitions discovered inside two cars that were shipped into the country from the US through the Tin-Can Island port (Read here ). These photos show some of the weapons that were recovered.

Comptroller Yusuf Bashar, Customs Area Controller Tincan Island Port Command, today, handed over arms and ammunitions concealed in the two cars to Mr. Julius Odey, Director Tincan Command, Department Of State Services (DSS). See more photos after the cut.

Photos: Church of England appoints Nigerian medical doctor as new Bishop of Woolwich


The Church of England has appointed Nigerian clergyman Revd Dr, Woyin Karowei Dorgu as the first black bishop in 20 years. On Tuesday, December 20th, Downing Street announced that the Revd Prebendary Dr Woyin Karowei Dorgu, currently Vicar of St John the Evangelist, Upper Holloway, and Woolwich and a Prebendary of St Paul’s Cathedral, will be the new Bishop of Woolwich.

He succeeds the Rt Revd Dr Michael Ipgrave who is now the 99th Bishop of Lichfield. He will be consecrated in Southwark Cathedral on St Patrick’s Day 17th March 2017.

Woman Dies After Tree Falls on Wedding Party

A woman was killed and five others were injured when a large eucalyptus tree fell on a wedding party taking photographs at a Southern California park Saturday, authorities said.
Several people were trapped under the tree at Whittier's Penn Park, the Los Angeles County Fire Department said.
Video from the scene showed fire crews using chain saws to cut through the downed branches.

Nigeria’s Army To Set Up Cattle Ranches Nationwide (See Why)

The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Tukur Buratai has said that the Nigerian Army would establish cattle ranches in almost all the divisions.
Buratai, who was represented by the Chief of Army Logistics, Major General Patrick Akem, stated this on Tuesday at the Commissioning of Mogadishu Cantonment New Mammy Market (former Abacha Barracks), Abuja.
The Army Chief disclosed that in keeping up with modern cattle rearing tradition, he sent officers of the Army to Argentina to look at how cattle were reared.

‘EFCC Is Corrupt And Irresponsible’- Ekiti State Governor Fayose Blasts Agency

The Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, has described the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) as an irresponsible and corrupt organisation that cannot prosecute any meaningful fight against corruption, saying, “corruption can never fight corruption.”
The governor who commended the judiciary for standing firm against the EFCC tyranny, said the way and manner the commission has been going about shopping for court orders against Nigerians should concern lovers of rule of law in the country.
Reacting to the Monday’s Federal High Court, Abuja judgment, ordering the EFCC to release all his properties based on the order of the court made on July 20 and August 2, 2016, Governor Fayose, who spoke through his Special Assistant on Public Communications and New Media, Lere Olayinka said,
