Gambia's Ambassador To The US Resigns, Calls On Sit-Tight President To Step Down

The Gambian ambassador to the US, Sheikh Omar Faye, is the latest to jump from the sinking Jammeh ship calling on him to step down.

In a letter addressed to the brutal despot in  Banjul, Mr Faye enunciated that the recent announcement annulling the results after initial concession had come as a huge disappointment to him.

He then added: ” I am supporting the will of Gambian people by recognizing Mr Adama Barrow as the president elect of The Gambia out of my personal decision and desire to safeguard the peace and social cohesion of our beloved country”.

The Gambia’s chief diplomat in Washington maintained that he did not discuss his decision with any member of the coalition, noting that it was indicted purely by national rather than personal interest.

Gambian President Allegedly Tells African Leaders ‘I Wont Step Down’ As He Takes Over Independent Electoral Commission

This is according to Gambia's freedomnewspaper.com a Gambia online news medium. It reports it thus;

Gambia’s longtime dictator Yahya Jammeh, has defied West African regional leaders, following calls for his stepping down from the Presidency, the Freedom Newspaper can reveal. The dictator told a delegation of African leaders assigned to mediate and convince Jammeh to allow a peaceful transition of  power to President elect Barrow, that he is determined to challenge the results of the December, 1st election in court. Hence, Jammeh said he is not going to entertain any talks for his withdrawal from the Presidency. The Banjul talks was a complete failure. No deal, or breakthrough was reached by the visiting African leaders.

While African Heads of State were in Banjul to meet Jammeh and President elect Adama Barrow, the dictator, has already taken over the offices of the Independent electoral Commission—the IEC election house. IEC workers, including its Chairman Alieu Mamar Njai, were denied access to the Commission on Tuesday. Armed guards have taken over the building. No one is allowed to have access to the building, said a source.

A member of Civilian Joint Task Force CJTF, identified as Bako Mustapha died during a fierce battle with Boko Haram terrorists in Sambisa Forest, a stronghold of the Islamist sect. Overall Forum Assistant Secretary CJTF in Bama, Muazu Alhaji Misiya posted the photos Wednesday and wrote:

"Our fallen hero in sambisa may almighty Allah give him aljannatul firdaushi ameeeeen. Bako mustapha"

African Leaders Hopeful Jammeh Will Handover, As Pres Buhari Allegedly Tells Opposition To Go Ahead With Inaugural Preparations

After working hard to convince the Gambia’s defeated President Yahya Jammeh to hand over power, leaders of the Economic Community of West African States left Banjul without achieving their goal.

President Jammeh would not renege on challenging the December 1st presidential election results at the Supreme Court which lacks enough judges to preside over cases. Jammeh, who had earlier conceded defeat, later reversed his decision claiming voter irregularities. The outgoing leader also declared the results “null and void”. And has also made security forces denied the Chief Electoral Commissioner access to his office yesterday, as we earlier reported.

The Swimmer made the announcement with the beautiful photo above. His fiancé also shared another photo and said:

Within the months of October and November 2016, the Federal Operations Unit Zone A of the Nigeria Customs Service has recovered six hundred and eleven million, six hundred and seventy six thousand, nine hundred and thirty eight naira (N611, 676, 938). This amount was regained from economic saboteurs that attempted false declaration, transfer of value and short change of duty payment. Parboiled rice (13,678 bags), Frozen poultry products (12,007 cartons) and vegetable oil (668 jerry cans) were the top items on the seizure list and over 200 other items comprising of vehicles, and various merchandise.
