Photos of victims of Cairo church terror attack, the youngest victim is 18-year-old Veronica Helmy


Egypt’s Ministry of Health on Monday morning, released the names and ages of 23 people who were killed in a terror attack during Sunday Mass at St. Mark's Cathedral in Cairo, Egypt.

Below are the translated names of 23 victims. A 24th victim remains unidentified as the death toll increased after the statement. Photographs of some victims were also found shared by their loved ones and friends on social media.

Super Falcons star Asisat Oshoala will be up against South Africa’s Janine Van Wyk, Cameroon’s Gabrielle Onguene, Raissa Feudjlo Tchanyo and Ghana’s Elizabeth Addo for the Women's player of the year award in awards list released by CAF .

Kelechi Iheanacho will battle for the Most Promising Talent award with Oghenekaro Etebo, Egypt's Ramadan Sobhi and DR Congo's Elia Meschak while Iwobi will compete against Cote d’Ivoire’s Frank Kessie, Ghana’s Eric Ayiah, Mali’s Sidiki Maiga and Ghana women’s Sandra Owusu-Ansah for the Youth Player of the Year prize.

Reigners Church collapse: Senator Godswill Akpabio visits injured at the hospital (photos)

Former Akwa Ibom State Governor, Senator Godswill Akpabio, yesterday visited those injured after a church collapse, at the Ibom International Specialist Hospital.

Scores were killed and many injured when the roof of Reigners Bible Church International collapsed during the Archbishopric ordination of its founder, Akan Weeks as Bishop, over the weekend.

The state governor, Udom Emmanuel, who attended the service as a special guest of honour with other top government officials, escaped death while some of his aides sustained injuries.

"I was impressed by the efforts of the medical personnel at the hospital. I pray for the quick recovery of the sick and injured" he said

FG denies firing two Service Chiefs

The Federal government has denied claims that President Buhari has fired two service chiefs. Read the press statement below...
The attention of the Honourable Minister of Defence Mansur Muhammad Dan-Ali was drawn to some online publications claiming that he has sent letters to the Chiefs of Defence Staff General Abayomi Gabriel Olonisakin and of the Naval staff Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ekwe Ibas directing them to hand over their offices on or before Friday Dec 16 
Please be informed that there was no such communication between the office of the Honourable Minister of Defence and the service chiefs directing any one of them to hand over his office and proceed on retirement. The appointment and replacement of service chiefs are a prerogative responsibility of the office of the President and Commander in Chief. Please endeavor to always balance your stories from the right sources to avoid mischief.

Lagos State Commissioner of Police, Fatai Owoseni during an unscheduled visit to Agbowa Police Station, Epe today, ordered the release of a lady and her baby arrested for stealing plantain in Agbowa Market, Epe. The lady on interrogation by the CP explained that she was pushed into stealing the plantain because she and her baby were hungry. Photos: Two Nigerian students drown in Malaysia


Two Nigerians, Amate Mohamed Amate, 26, and Emine-Imoh Daniel, 23, both students at the Curtin University Malaysia, died after they drowned following a boat mishap yesterday. The bodies of the Nigerians were reported missing when their boat, carrying seven people, capsized while on a research trip.

The surviving five, three students and the boat operator and a tour guide, managed to swim to safety.

According to the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department Director, Nor Hisham Mohammad, the body of Amate Mohamed Amate, was found about 50m from where the boat had capsized at 12.45pm while that of Emine-Imoh Daniel, was found about 30m from where the boat had capsized at 5.15pm.

Their bodies have been deposited at the Miri Hospital for post-mortem.
