Actor Leo Mezie speaks from hospital bed in London, thanks Nollywood and Nigerians

Nollywood actor Leo Mezie, who was flown to London for his Kidney treatment is said to be responding well to treatment. Speaking from his sick bed in London, Leo thanked all those who provided financial assistance to make it possible for him to go to London. He said:
"Hello people, this is your boy Leo Mezie, I want to use this medium to say thank you for your support, financially, thank you players, I just want to let you know that everything got across to me. I want to also thank in a special way; my president, Igbinagbo, Chioma Okoye my sister, Kele Akara my wonderful friend and brother, I want to thank Chijiro, I want to thank Ifoma Okereke, these are the team that swore me to action immediately the news got broken. I thank you guys, I thank you all, and I pray God to bless you in a million fold. I’m sorry this came a bit late, it is just that I have been unstable, but I am now stronger and better…”

EFCC raids Justice Ofili-Ajumogobia’s home


Barely 72 hours after turning herself in to Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Rita Ofili-Ajimogobia residence got raided by operatives of the EFCC during which ‘vital’ documents belonging to Ofili that may point to criminal breaches were allegedly retrieved.

According to Vanguard Sunday, a top operative said that bank accounts of the woman and those of her children were also taken away by the security operatives during the raid.

“A search was conducted on the residence of Justice Rita Ofili- Ajumogobia by operatives of the EFCC and the search yielded documents that would assist the commission’s investigations, including bank accounts in her name and those bearing the names of her children and property title both in Nigeria and abroad”.

Over 70 people have been confirmed dea with about 600 person seriously injured and getting treatment in the hospital. The country's president has declared tomorrow as a public holiday for the 70 killed to be mourned.

Dr. Ngozi-Okonjo Iweala appointed board member of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

Former Nigeria's Minister of Finance, Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala has been appointed a member of the international advisory panel of Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), a multilateral Development bank set up on December 25, 2015, with an initial capital of$100billion, one million shares and an initial paid-up capital of $20 billion.

A statement issued at the weekend by AIIB Senior Communication Officer, Mr Song Liya said Okonjo-Iweala would join 10 other key persons on the panel.

"The panel provides impartial, objective and independent advice to the President, allowing the Bank to benefit from the international experience and expertise of panel members,"

Lagos State May Impose Death Sentences On Kidnappers


Lagos State Government may soon join the growing number of states including Edo, Ogun and Anambra that have imposed death sentence on kidnappers.

According to a private member bill sponsored by the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr. Mudashiru Obasa, “any person, who kidnaps, abducts, detains or captures or takes another person by any means or tricks with intent to demand ransom or do anything against his/her, will commit an offence, and liable to a conviction of death sentence.

The bill, which is titled: ‘A bill for a law to provide for the prohibition of the act of kidnapping and for other connected purposes,’ went through a public hearing in the State House of Assembly, yesterday.
