Jonathan To Observe General Elections In Zambia




Former President Goodluck Jonathan will be leading the African Union Elections Observation Mission (AUEOM) to the Zambia ahead of the country's general election scheduled to take place on October 11, 2016.

According to a press statement released on African Union's website on Monday, August 1st, the team headed by former Nigerian President would lead members of the Short Term observers from 1st to 15 August 2016. Read the full statement below:

World North Korean missile lands perilously close to Japan



North Korea shot a ballistic missile startlingly close to Japan on Wednesday, sparking stern condemnations from Tokyo, Seoul and Washington.
If confirmed, this would constitute the first time a North Korean missile had landed within Japan’s exclusive economic zone on the Sea of Japan side of the island chain. In 1998, North Korea fired a Taepodong-1 missile over Japan and into its economic zone on the Pacific Ocean side.

Nicaraguan President names his wife as his running mate as he runs for a third term



Nicaraguan President Daniel Ortega has named his wife, Rosario Murillo as his running mate and Vice Presidential candidate as he seeks re-election for a third term. Rosario currently serves as the chief spokesperson for her husband's government and is widely seen as sharing power with her him.

A mother of seven children, Rosario has a reputation for wearing colourfully extravagant outfits and jewellery more commonly seen in the hippy 1960s. Ortega and his wife officially submitted their presidential election nomination form to their party yesterday. He came into power in 2007.

ISIS announces new leader for Boko Haram, says al-Barnawi replaces Shekau

Islamic State (IS) jihadist group, ISIS, has announced a new leader for its West African branch which is Boko Haram. According to BBC, the terrorist group announced this in the latest issue of their magazine. The magazine featured its first interview with Abu Musab al-Barnawi who replaces Abubakar Shekau.

Recall that in January 2015, al-Barnawi appeared in a video clip where he described himself as the spokesman for Boko Haram. This was before the Nigeria-based jihadist group pledged allegiance to IS.

Shekau has not made a verified appearance in any of the sects propaganda videos since August 2015.
